Michigan Man Says $25,000 A Year For Life Win Means Fresh Start

A Michigan man is looking forward to having a “solid financial foundation” after winning $25,000 a year for life playing Lucky For Life®!

Anthony D’Angelo, 56, matched the five white balls drawn Dec. 26, 2016 – 01-04-27-35-45 – to win the big prize. According to Michigan Lottery officials, he bought the ticket at the CVS Pharmacy, located at 46850 Romeo Plank Road in Macomb. D’Angelo is the 10th Michigan winner of a lifetime prize in the Lucky For Life game.

“I was sitting at the table with my wife checking my ticket circling each number I matched,” said D’Angelo. “When I got to the last line and had five numbers circled I handed her the ticket and said ‘Look at this!’ Neither of us could believe what we were looking at.”

D’Angelo visited Lottery headquarters Monday to claim the big prize. He chose to receive payments of $25,000 annually for 20 years or life, whichever is greater. He could have opted to receive a one-time lump sum payment of $390,000.

“Choosing the annual payments will give me and my family some financial security each year,” said D’Angelo. “It’s nice to know that I’ll have something coming in for at least the next 20 years.”

With his winnings, D’Angelo plans to pay some bills.

“I lost my job a few years ago, and worked several jobs to make ends meet for my family,” said D’Angelo. “I ended up having a heart attack from all of that stress, and I’m still paying those bills now. It will be nice to have that all behind me.”

While he’s happy to be paying off some bills, D’Angelo also is looking forward to the relief that getting $25,000 a year will bring.

“I can’t even describe how much weight this lifts off of my shoulders. Having $25,000 a year guaranteed to arrive will be so helpful to my family,” D’Angelo said.

$25,000 A Year For Life Winner Supports The Homeless And His Loving Family

January 04, 2017 — “Something is going to happen—the numbers are going to hit!” Manual Baez told his family as they watched their favorite football team, the Dallas Cowboys, cruise to a recent victory. Baez told CT Lottery officials that he just knew his Lucky for Life® numbers were going to come in on the December 26th drawing.

The winning Lucky for Life numbers on December 26, 2016 were — 1 – 4 – 27 – 35 – 45; the Lucky Ball number was 18. Baez’s numbers matched 5 numbers but missed matching the Lucky Ball resulting in a $25,000 a Year for Life prize! Baez took the lump sum option valued at $390,003.

“You have to be kidding me,” Baez said aloud when he checked his tickets. Overcome with emotion, Baez headed home to share the amazing news. The numbers picked all have special meaning to Baez and his family; they are a combination of all their birthdays. Most ironically, the last two numbers are the ages that Baez and his wife will be turning this year.

Baez is keen on spending his winnings responsibly by “getting back to zero” and paying bills and rent for a year. However, the Baez family is not the only one who will benefit from the chance Lottery win; Baez recently took another family into his household who would otherwise be homeless. Baez simply sees his Lucky for Life prize as another opportunity to assist others around him.

“We’re going to plan it out and help our family,” Baez said humbly. Eventually, the lucky winner plans to treat himself to well-deserved and much needed time off. “We’re solemn—we’re thankful and were taking a vacation we’ve never been on.”

For selling the winning ticket, 7-Eleven store #15123A located on 903 Hartford Turnpike in Vernon, Connecticut will receive a $2,500 check.

Father’s Gift Makes Daughter A Winner For Life

Manalle Earnhardt of Salisbury, North Carolina, will get $1,000 A Day for the rest of her life thanks to her dad, who gave her a ticket that won the top prize in the Lucky For Life game.

The ticket made Earnhardt the first person in North Carolina to win the game’s top prize. It beat the odds of 1 in 30.8 million in the Thursday, Oct. 20 drawing to win $1,000 A Day For Life.

Earnhardt said her dad buys lottery tickets for her and her brother on a regular basis, but she never expected to win.

“He likes to play,” Earnhardt said. “He wants to see us enjoy playing as well. This is so surreal.”

Her dad owns The Crossroads on Bringle Ferry Road in Salisbury, but stopped by the Fast Stop on Andrews Street to get the $2 ticket.

Earnhardt found out she had a winning ticket when her dad called her the next morning.

“At first I thought something bad had happened,” Earnhardt said. “When you’re dead asleep, that’s the first thing you think.”

But then her dad told her to check her ticket.

“You look at those numbers and you’re not sure if you’re looking at them right,” Earnhardt said. “You think, ‘How can this be?’”

After learning she won, Earnhardt called her husband and then went to work at the VA Medical Center in Salisbury where she’s spent the last ten years as a nurse in the emergency room.

“It still didn’t seem real at that point,” Earnhardt said.

It started to when she claimed her prize on Wednesday. Earnhardt had the option of taking a lump sum of $5.75 million or the annuity prize of $365,000 a year. She chose the annuity, and received her first annual payment. After federal and state tax withholdings the win amounted to $252,763.

The prize is guaranteed for at least 20 years to the winner’s estate or heirs. That means Earnhardt, who just turned 39, will receive at least $7.28 million. The annuity payments will continue for the rest of her life, which means she could receive $10.9 million over thirty years or $14.6 million over forty years.

Even though she won the prize of a lifetime, she plans to work until retirement.

“I love what I do,” Earnhardt said. “I didn’t serve in the service, so this is my way of giving back to the veterans.”

While she plans to keep working, she said winning the top Lucky For Life prize is a big stress reliever.

“I don’t have to worry about retirement now,” Earnhardt said. “I don’t have to worry about college for my two boys, or all of these other things. It’s nice to know it’s taken care of.”

While all of these things are long term, Earnhardt plans to get a pool in the near future.

Jamil Isbanioly, Earnhardt’s dad, couldn’t be happier about the win.

“I’m so excited for her,” Isbanioly said. “This is the best thing to give to my kids and make them happy.”

To win the top Lucky For Life prize, the ticket matched all six numbers drawn. Players have 10 ways to win a prize playing the game. In the nine months since tickets went on sale in North Carolina, nine players have won the game’s second prize of $25,000 A Year For Life.

Two Friends’ Lucky Numbers Lead To Lifetime Of Winnings

Lakisha Henry from Clinton and David Brinson from North Carolina, have shared a friendship for seven years. And after sharing a set of lucky numbers, they each now have the prize of a lifetime.

Two tickets sold for last Thursday’s Lucky For Life drawing on September 15, 2016, beat the odds of one in 1.8 million to win the game’s second prize of $25,000 A Year For Life. Henry had one ticket, Brinson had the other.

They play the game regularly, but this time Henry decided not to use her own numbers.

“She told me, ‘I’m going to write down your numbers,’” Brinson said. “I told her she needed to write down her own numbers, but she didn’t.”

“He’s good with numbers,” explained Henry, a home health care aide. “He’s pretty lucky.”

Brinson called Henry at work when he found out they both won.

“I made him read off the numbers to me because I didn’t believe it,” Henry said.

Brinson said he’s no stranger to luck. He’s a cancer survivor.

“I feel the same way I did before I won the money,” Brinson said. “I’m more excited to be cancer free.”

Henry and Brinson claimed their prizes Wednesday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh. Players who win the game’s top prize of $1,000 A Day For Life or the second prize of $25,000 A Year For Life can collect the payment for as long as they live. They also had the option of getting a lump sum of $390,000.

Both Henry and Brinson chose the cash option. After federal and state tax withholdings, they each took home $270,075. Henry plans to use the money to pay off her house. Brinson plans to use the money to help his family.

The friends bought their $2 tickets at the Magnolia Food Mart on North Monk Street in Magnolia.

This marks nine times since the game launched in February, that a ticket sold in North Carolina has won the $25,000 A Year For Life prize.
